Dr Malcolm John McArthur OBE

and Mrs Gudrun McArthur

Dr McArthur, with his wife Gudrun, dedicated their lives to serving others through their exceptional work in the medical and missionary fields. In 1977, they founded Flying Mission, an organisation committed to providing essential air transport services for medical and mission work in the remote areas of Botswana. Their vision and tireless efforts saved countless lives and brought hope and healing to many communities. Malcolm and Gudrun’s legacy of compassion, dedication, and service continues to inspire and impact lives around the world.

Malcolm passed away peacefully in hospital in the early hours of the 9th of July, 2024. Gudrun passed away in the evening of the 15 August 2024. For their family, and many friends worldwide, their passing leaves a huge hole. We can take comfort that, for them, there are no more tears and no more pain as they take up residence in their heavenly home in the presence of their Lord and Saviour.

Their lives were filled with love – love for the Lord Jesus, love for their adopted family, and love for their many friends worldwide. This was richly expressed by the tributes that have been made in their memory: both written and spoken. We are thankful for their lives lived out in honour of God, and the legacy they have left in our lives and in the organisation of Flying Mission.

To honour their memory we have collated here some of the tributes which have been offered for their lives. To view these tributes, click on the links to the right.
